Lisa Ng and her husband Paul have been working hard to raise money in order to fund a water well for a community of over 500 villagers in a developing country. Lisa is a good friend of mine and is the voice behind This Beautiful Day and she has organized an online charity auction to help raise funds.
There are so many prizes to bid on; from spa services, beauty and fashion shopping trips and business services too!
I teamed up with Stephanie of BlushPretty to offer up a one hour shopping session at Sephora, followed by a professional makeup session. The highest bidder will also receive a goodie bag of Sephora items valued at approximately $220!
We are probably not all aware, but the lack of clean water and sanitation causes 80% of all sickness and disease in the developing world. Imagine what the money raised from this auction could do!
Once the well money is raised and the well is built, it doesn’t stop there. Generosity.org creates an accountable water council among the villagers and trains them on how to repair the well if it were to break down. This ensures they will be able to sustain having clean drinking water for the whole village. Slowly but surely we are making an impact. In 2008 there were 1.1 billion people living without water, now there are only 748 million. That’s still a HUGE number to wrap my brain around, but I’m happy to see that the efforts seem to be working.
